Luxury is not excess.
Luxury is authenticity.

“Had our first Thanksgiving dinner last night on our new Divided Lands dining table. A wonderful meal together on a beautiful table. Can’t say enough great things about our experience working with Florian. He’s extremely skilled, knowledgeable, and very patient. Looking forward to getting our next table for the living room.”

“We have purchased a number of custom tables over the last few years, for our homes in Florida and Massachusetts. They are immediate attention grabbers and really lift the design aesthetic of any room. Florian’s work is first rate, he does what he says he will, on time, on budget.”

Florian Roeper holds a BFA in furniture and sculpture from California College of the Arts.
Upon graduating in 2003, Roeper entered into a furniture market that was in flux. The studio furniture movement— with styles ranging from the whimsical pieces of Garry Knox Bennett to the craft-honoring works of Sam Maloof and Wendell Castle— had created a thriving, art furniture micro-industry and collector base from the 1960s to the early 2000s. With the aging of an entire generation of makers and collectors, and the closing of a large swath of art furniture galleries across the nation, the studio furniture world was due for a major reset.
Roeper adjusted to the shifting marketplace— which was moving away from artsy furniture— by creating a style which was more design-centric and approachable, while still maintaining focus on artistic integrity and the mark of the maker. As Roeper’s creative voice grew into maturity over the next 22 years, his unwavering vision to produce timeless and premium-quality handmade furniture became the driving force behind each new design.
The classics of his early days such as THE BRIDGE Console [2002] and the DIVIDED LANDS Table Collection [2004] have triumphed the test of time and still are Studio Roeper bestsellers to this day. Over the years, Roeper has embraced a more minimalist style which seeks to celebrate the natural imperfections and eternal beauty of wood— a natural progression towards wabi-sabi, especially considering that he has salvaged and milled countless, sustainably-sourced logs into one of the largest inventories of California Black Walnut slabs in the country.
Roeper welcomes collaborations with both private collectors and interior designers. An inspiring and one-of-a-kind experience awaits you at one of the most exciting studios in California.
